Holy Shark Week

sharkDiscovery Channel just released a commercial teasing, everyone’s favorite, Shark Week (August 4 – mark your calendars) and it has already gone viral. The ad features a fake newscast about an (unlucky) seal named Snuffy. It’s hilariously sad, silly and worth a watch.

Prancercise: A fitness workout

A woman named Joanna Rohrback invented Prancercise® in 1989, and describes the fitness workout as “a springy, rhythmic way of moving forward, similar to a horse’s gait and is ideally induced by elation.”

Unfortunately the unique exercise routine never caught on. It could be that she was just ahead of her time creating an outdoor workout that you couldn’t follow unless you had a portable video device. OR it could be because you look absolutely ridiculous when prancercising.

Joanna is quite the rhymer, no? My favorite move is the Prancercise Gallop. There’s even a book (with a pretty epic cover photo) if you really want to study the art of Prancercise.

Thanks Sarah for sending this!

Party like an ewok on May the Fourth

It’s awesome to celebrate obscure holidays. And Star Wars Day or May the Fourth is already upon us! Here’s a few fun ways you can celebrate tomorrow (and maybe even after)…

1. Have a Star Wars movie marathon complete with Star Wars themed food, like:

2. Make Lightsaber Straws for sipping your adult beverages…

3. And then play the Star Wars Drinking Game

4. Try to talk like Yoda all day to annoy your friends

5. Play Star Wars themed games like these

And then, if you still haven’t had enough (and  are still standing from that drinking game), gear up for the 30th anniversary of Return of the Jedi on May 25th.

May the Fourth be with you! Oh, and shake the haters off…

Monday Musings: Earth Day Edition

Happy Monday and Happy Earth Day everyone! Take after the Sanitation Twins and do something nice for the environment today and take care of each other, okay?

lil bubCelebrate Earth Day by checking out 10 sites and apps that help you reduce, reuse, recycle and make the world a better place. The iRecycle app is awesome.

Got a case of the Mondays? See these funny pictures of people who are more tired than you.

Check out the humanae Tumblr project that wants to catalog all possible human skin tones.

Because every day could use some sloth in it, check out these sketches of sloths dressed as Disney princesses.

And finally, I really wish I could be at the Tribeca Film Festival, but appreciated this list of the 13 must-see films from the fest. I can’t wait to see Flex is Kings (love dancing), Almost Christmas (love Paul Rudd), Greetings from Tim Buckley (hey, Dan Humphrey) and Lil Bub & Friendz (celebricats!).

Keeping it Light and Tight

American Eagle

American Eagle got an early start on April Fool’s Day with the announcement of its AEO Skinny Skinny Jeans. You think you’re just watching another video of pretty, thin people wearing fun outfits with the obligatory skinny jean. Then something goes hilariously wrong.

Here, watch the video:

As you can see, the “jeans” are actually spray painted on and come in two signature washes (lucky us). You can try and order the jeans with “SkinTight technology,” but you’ll see that they’re already sold out. Hopefully you can beat all the skinny-loving hipsters when the next order comes in. #aeoskinnyskinny
